Yael's
Story
Yael is one of the first members who joined Glittery. Born with a chronic medical condition and battling an ongoing emotional health journey, Glittery is a rock-solid support for Yael and others like her. Coming from a loving family, Yael excelled in a mainstream school with assistance. The structured days and the kind of friendships that only exist during the innocence of youth made for a smooth sailing childhood. As Yael grew, her struggles grew with her, limiting her abilities to keep up with her friends and continue on the path they were taking. The loneliness bought Yael to a state of serious depression that landed her in hospital. At this point Glittery was born, providing a ray of sunshine to the lonely days of women with additional needs. Glittery volunteers visited Yael in hospital, restoring the light in her eyes. Once she was home, Yael became a loyal Glittery member, participating in activities and special programs and forming new friendships.

Our
Story
Women with additional needs face a difficult reality. Due to their conditions, most are unable to have jobs. Days and weeks blur together in a state of loneliness and unfulfillment.
Glittery is a unique organisation in Greater Manchester - the only social club for Orthodox women with additional needs and is a tremendous asset to the Manchester community.
Glittery Manchester was founded in 2019 to fill a void in the orthodox community. Until it commenced, children with additional needs had extensive opportunities open to them but when graduating these services there was nothing to assist them in finding their place within the community. The devoted founders of Glittery rose to the challenge and have created an organisation where women can learn important life skills, form friendships and support each other.
Glittery is a constantly growing organisation. With over 300 disabled children in the Manchester community, the need for an adult social club is essential.

Program
Glittery members are partnered with a volunteer who takes them out on a weekly basis. This is the highlight of the week for most members. They receive the attention they desperately crave and it gives a break to the endless loneliness these girls experience.
